Day Twenty-four: Christine's 45 min HRZ Endurance Ride 8.30.17
I had a very rough day. I was supposed to wake up early and ride, but I didn't. Even though I should have been feeling fine since yesterday I did an endurance ride, I found out some devastating news about a former student of mine.
Stress and grief can take a toll on the body as much as a hard threshold workout can. Even as I climbed the stairs to my morning train, I could tell that my legs were tired. Paying attention to these signals is critical for avoiding injury and burn-out... a lesson from my ironman training days.
I gave myself the extra sleep this morning and did another endurance ride tonight. I did a live ride with Christine and she was great, the music was stuff I'd never heard, but was good. I think that she probably slips into too high of heart rate zones during her endurance classes, but it was good to see a room full of people and her energy encouraging us all to treat ourselves right.
I'm feeling a bit better. Now to eat a salad and make sure that I sleep a full eight hours.
