Hi.

Welcome to my streak.  One hundred days of straight Peloton.

Day Forty-four: Jess King's 45 min Live DJ Ride 9.15.17

Day Forty-four: Jess King's 45 min Live DJ Ride 9.15.17

I've been a bit slow to warm up to Jess King.  I believe in a previous ride, I got on and just felt like she was a bit too flirty with the camera for me.  This ride was recommended as a lot of fun on a FB Peloton message board and they were so so right.  DJ Jean Michael and Jess King complement each other totally.  He was especially on fire, claiming that he was playing the Miami Sound Machine, and she was leading us through some tough but do-able intervals.

When the Live DJ rides work, you feel like you are hanging out with some people at a party who are controlling the music and dancing uncontrollably as they yell out, "that's my JAM!" and then wild-out.  That's how this ride felt.

Jess also seemed to have a bit more communication with the folks in the front row.  Sometimes an instructor can pay TOO MUCH attention to the cameras---this is a particular Peloton Pet Peeve of mine that can sometimes make the class feel less studio like.  Coming from the world of Manhattan brick and mortar cycling studios, the instructor acknowledging what they see in the room holds an important aspect of the ride for me, amplifies my feeling of community.  Jess mixes her comments to the leaderboard, the riders in the room and the cameras very evenly.
